Zeeman effects in excited states of SO2 investigated with sub-Doppler resolution
Zeeman splittings in the spectrum of SO2 around 320 nm have been accurately measured at different magnetic fields in a collimated supersonic SO2 beam with a spectral resolution of 10 MHz. The analysis of the Zeeman patterns proves that the magnetic moment of the vibronically coupled 1B1 and 1A2 stat...

Zusammenfassung: | Zeeman splittings in the spectrum of SO2 around 320 nm have been accurately measured at different magnetic fields in a collimated supersonic SO2 beam with a spectral resolution of 10 MHz. The analysis of the Zeeman patterns proves that the magnetic moment of the vibronically coupled 1B1 and 1A2 states is mainly due to spin-orbit coupling with a triplet state while Coriolis coupling with the 1A1 ground state does not significantly contribute to the Zeeman effect. |
