Zusammenfassung: | Goncalves-Ferri et al discuss the case study of an extremely preterm neonate whose mother presented with preeclampsia and received a complete course of antenatal steroids was born by cesarean section at 29 weeks of gestation. The infant presented with respiratory distress syndrome, for which the attending physician indicated less invasive surfactant administration at 2 hours of life, when she was under nasal continuous positive airway pressure in the supine position. By the time the surfactant was administered, retractive breathing was clinically evident. During the first hours of life- before and after LISA, changes in aeration and ventilation distribution were monitored by electrical impedance tomography. |
