Submucosal invasive colorectal cancer showing a similar morphology to diffusely infiltrating cancer (inflammatory type)

Cases of inflammatory type cancer have a relatively good prognosis among diffusely infiltrating colorectal cancers. We experienced an extremely rare case of submucosal invasive cancer showing a similar morphology to inflammatory type cancer. A man in his 50s was referred to us because of a positive fecal occult blood test. Colonoscopy showed an unilateral stenosis in the sigmoid colon.
