Zusammenfassung:A long-pulse intense ion source has been developed using a modification of the reflex triode. Pulse lengths up to 40 ns have been obtained at a voltage of 450 kV, and more than 2×1014 protons have been generated in a single pulse. Repetitive operation of the accelerator has also been demonstrated. The maximum pulse length is presently limited only by insulator flashover of the diode.
