New Orientations in Environmental Planning and Professional Training for Integrated Urban Conservation

The purpose of this article is to discuss how the specialised training of the learned and professional disciplines concerned with environmental planning--that is, architecture, town planning, landscape architecture and civil engineering--can be reformed to serve the goals of integrated conservation. It outlines an attempt to formulate a comprehensive set of guidelines for a new orientation in the context, methodology and scope of undergraduate and postgraduate studies in architectural and urban rehabilitation and conservation.
