Note on the formation and magnetic properties of TbFe sub(12-x)Ga sub(x) (x identical with 6.7)

The crystallographic and magnetic properties of the TbFe sub(12-x)Ga sub(x) solid solutions have been investigated. The compounds with a Ga concentration x identical with 6 and 7 are approximately single phase having the ThMn sub(12)-type of structure. The lattice constants are a identical with 8.602 angstroms and 8.669 angstroms for TbFe sub(6)Ga sub(6) and TbFe sub(5)Ga sub(7), and c identical with 5.077 angstroms and 5.092 angstroms, respectively. The Curie temperatures of TbFe sub(6)Ga sub(6) is 505.7 K and of TbFe sub(5)Ga sub(7) is 398.7 K.
