Direct solar transmittance for a clear sky

An attempt is made to develop a general and simple model of direct solar transmittance in terms of fundamental measurable quantities. The spectral transmittance of the direct solar beam is formulated as a function of measurable quantities. Spectral integrations are performed with various combinations of the fundamental parameters. Approximate analytical forms are developed and unknown constants are determined from the spectral integration and expressed in terms of these fundamental parameters.
