Electrooxidation of thioacetals for the selective deprotection to carbonyl compounds

Electrooxidation of thioacetals such as dibenzyl S, S-acetal and dithiolane in aqueous acetonitrile effected selective deprotections to carbonyl compounds; it is possible to deprotect a ketone thioacetal in preference to an aldehyde thioacetal.
