Zusammenfassung: | The APA/APAGS Award for Distinguished Graduate Student in Professional Psychology is awarded annually by the APA Board of Professional Affairs (BPA) and the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students (APAGS) to a graduate student who has demonstrated outstanding practice and application of psychology. The 2019 award winner is K. Chinwe Idigo. Idigo "created a space for clinicians to discuss issues related to power, privilege, and discrimination that play out between staff and clients. She exemplifies the role of counseling psychologists as social justice advocates who create safe spaces where clients express psychological experiences, thereby creating healing and liberation. This ability to identify clients' perceptions of their barriers and risk factors and to work collaboratively to create and utilize resources, strengths, and opportunities for resilience and recovery in a multiculturally sensitive and responsive manner is where Ms. Idigo excels. She finds that balance between the science of therapy and the art of healing." (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2019 APA, all rights reserved). |
