Radial zone characterization in explosively compacted iron powder
Micrographic examination using 30% HCl and 2% Nital etch show explosive compaction of Fe powder produces three zones differentiated by degrees of compaction, welding and melting. Experimental procedure is outlined and observations are discussed and illustrated.--J.V.R.
