Model of a cold-front ''jump'
A model of cold-front motion is proposed which is based on Kochin's formulation of zonal oscillations of the frontal surface. The model makes it possible to explain the accelerated progress ('jump') of the cold front and its retrograde motion in the form of a warm front.
