Mode control in a submillimetre open resonator with a variable iris

The effect of restricting the aperture of a submillimetre open resonator by means of an iris placed at the beam waist has been investigated. The results obtained indicate that the variation of resonance amplitude with iris radius for the various modes is governed by diffraction loss due to the iris....

Zusammenfassung:The effect of restricting the aperture of a submillimetre open resonator by means of an iris placed at the beam waist has been investigated. The results obtained indicate that the variation of resonance amplitude with iris radius for the various modes is governed by diffraction loss due to the iris. This technique may be useful for mode control in Orotron resonators.
