Zusammenfassung: | Ultraviolet spectroscopic observations with the IUE satellite of the controversial peculiar star HD 101065 are presented and discussed. Low-resolution spectra combined with published visual and infrared broad-band photometry show that the star's spectral energy distribution is greatly distorted, presumably by the severe line blanketing. However, the presence of observable ultraviolet flux below 1900 A suggests that HD 101065 is considerably hotter than 6000 K. A detailed examination of the high-resolution spectrum of HD 101065 in the region 1900-3200 A found that the lines of the iron-peak elements Fe II, Cr II, Mn II, and Ti II are strongly represented in the ultraviolet spectrum. The implications of the presence of these elements for the temperature estimate and nature of HD 101065 are discussed. |
