Zusammenfassung:The design analysis of high temperature components requires stress--strain relations for the structural materials under consideration. These are to be based on quantitative descriptions of the mechanical behaviour under the conditions of operation. Average stress--strain relations for the time-independent and time-dependent material behavior are derived for a representative product form of the stainless steel X6 Cr Ni 18 11 by means of the actual data from a set of tensile and creep experiments. The actual data at temperatures of 20 deg C and 550 deg C are compared with the derived average constitutive relations. The results are discussed and compared with literature data for the corresponding American steel AISI 304 SS and the Japanese steel SUS 304. 9 ref.--AA
