Zusammenfassung:X-ray spectra were used to evaluate the chemical composition of carbides in 11 Ni--Cr--Mo-based alloys with carbon content in the range 0.001-0.01%. Carbides that precipitated, generally at the grain boundaries, were found to be either of the M6C or M23C6 type, with both types found in only one alloy. Analysis of the Mo and Cr content of the austenite in proximity to the carbides led to the conclusion that the M6C carbide is associated with Mo depletion and the M23C6 carbide with both Mo and Cr depletion. 13 ref.--G.P.K.
