Zusammenfassung:	A 16-year-old boy was admitted to the hospital in autumn because of malaise, abdominal cramping, and jaundice. Ultrasonography of the abdomen revealed splenomegaly. Atypical lymphocytes were reportedly noted in peripheral blood, and testing for Epstein–Barr virus was negative. Additional diagnostic tests were performed, and a diagnosis was made.
