Variation in cell-wall strength of Klebsiella pneumoniae NCTC 418 with change in agitation speed in a chemostat system

Klebsiella pneumoniae (NCTC 418) was grown in a chemostat with impeller speeds between 700 and 1000 rev. min −1 . An inverse relationship between impeller speed and the cell‐wall strength of the organism was found and explained.
