A fresh mechanism for how buckyballs form in space
The spectroscopic fingerprints of buckyballs have been observed in space, but questions remain about how these large molecules form. Laboratory experiments have revealed a possible mechanism. Buckminsterfullerene can be made from silicon carbide.
