Zusammenfassung:The mechanical properties and corrosion behaviour of three stainless steels in which nickel was partly or totally replaced by manganese were determined in solutions of H 2SO 4, HCl and NaCl. It was shown that the tensile and yield strengths increase with increase in manganese content and decrease in nickel content. Partial replacement of nickel in steel lowers its corrosion resistance only slightly, whereas complete replacement impairs it.
