Zusammenfassung:The Anglo-Danish interdisciplinary study of advanced battery technology is surveyed. The sodium sulfur battery which uses beta-alumina is described, the investigation of fast-ion conducting materials is reviewed, vehicular and stationary applications of advanced batteries are noted, and the development of the second generation of advanced batteries is considered. The use of TiS2 as a solid-solution electrode is described.
