Zusammenfassung: | The impact of two in-series metal cylinders on rigid targets was studied experimentally and analytically. An analytical method was developed to determine the dynamic yield strengths of each material in the composite cylinder. This technique, which is numerical in nature, represents an extension of that recently advanced by Wilkins and Guinin for single-material yield point determinations. The basis of this new method is a comparison of various simulations with the postmortem experimental geometry. The method was applied to composite cylinders of 4340 steel and a tungsten alloy, for which the dynamic yield points were determined. |
