A charged particle theory of oxidation of metals which contain a dispersed oxide phase

Zusammenfassung:The adsorption of negatively charged oxygen ions on to the surfaces of dispersed oxide particles in a growing oxide scale is suggested to be the cause of a decrease in the concentration of rate-controlling cation vacancies in the matrix oxide nearby. For sufficiently small particles, a change to predominantly anionic transport then allows more second-phase particles to enter the scale.
