Zusammenfassung:A new-generation satellite position-localizing system suitable for a variety of applications is described. The Transit satellites will carry the equipment in low-eccentricity elliptic orbits. Satellite orbit and pass data are provided. System subsystems (receiver, computer and tape reader, dialog and display terminal) are described, in addition to data acquired and generated by the system. Software and hardware flowcharts are provided. Recommended applications include: offshore prospecting (for petroleum, minerals), laying submarine cable, laying pipeline, tracing optimum routes (for supertankers), marine cartography, hydrography and oceanography, fishing or dredging operations, pinpointing rendezvous points at sea. Combining Sylosat C with other systems (Omega, Loran C, sonobuoy systems) in integrated position reckoning systems is also recommended.
