Zusammenfassung:The genetic algorithm method has been investigated for the calibration of a rainfall runoff model as part of research utilising the time-domain in rainfall runoff modelling. The genetic algorithm method has proved robust and the need to limit the number of model parameters to minimise difficulties in model calibration has been found unnecessary. A routine that shifts and varies the size of the search space as optimisation proceeds has been included. This feature which is intended to make the optimisation more robust and fine tune the search has been found to improve the calibration significantly. The calibration of an 8 year long 6 and 7 day time increment flow series of a 27 km^ Australian catchment gave a correl
