Software Pro-WELLS For The Delimination Of Perimeters Protecting Catchment Sites In Morocco

Pro-WELLS is presented as an efficient numerical tool designed for the protection and the management of drinking water supply wells. It permits the determination of the second and third perimeters around pumping wells by the prediction of different overexploitation or contamination risks. The groundwater flow and contaminant transport simulations are performed using advanced hydrogeological, mathematical and numerical modelings. High accurate solutions are ensured by the implementation of (mixed) finite volume element discretisations. With its new features, Pro-WELLS is suggested as a mean for making Moroccan Local Communities aware of the pollution danger threatening their catchment sites, and for assisting the legislation about
