Zusammenfassung:[...]a pharmacist and a physician are currently serving as co-chairs of the Council for the first time since its creation. CV clinical pharmacists collaborate with cardiologists and other health care professionals on patient care teams in a multitude of settings, including CV care clinics for ambulatory patients with hypertension, dyslipidemias, diabetes mellitus, heart failure, arrhythmias, and other CV diseases, as well as inpatient cardiac care units, cardiac intensive care units, the cardiac catheterization laboratory, post-operative recovery and stepdown units, cardiac rehabilitation programs, and many others. Patient care teams incorporating collaboration between CV clinical pharmacists and cardiologists have been shown to yield improved health care measures in patients with myriad CV diseases and risk factors, including hypertension, dyslipidemia, coronary artery disease, heart failure, and diabetes mellitus (2–4). CV clinical pharmacists also collaborate with cardiologists in other scholarly endeavors, such as: serving as associate editors or members of editorial boards of cardiovascular journals like JACC; serving as abstract reviewers for ACC live meetings; and serving as members of grant review panels for the AHA and/or on study sections for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health. Conclusions ACC members interact with colleagues in pharmacy on a daily basis.
