Zusammenfassung:By using expressions for narrow band self and shear noise due to Goldstein and Rosenbaum, equations are obtained for the peak frequencies of the self and shear noise spectra. In the special case where the velocity correlation has a Gaussian time decay, this produces a ratio of √2 for peak self/peak shear frequency. If the time decay is exponential, then the ratio is 2, a value suggested by Ribner. Experimental data consistently exhibits a ratio close to 2.
