Mathematical adjustment of ionospheric parameters

Experimental evidence for ionospheric resonances at harmonics of the gyrofrequency is recalled, and it is shown that this evidence can be interpreted in terms of oblique echoes. The trajectories followed by the waves are calculated in an approximate fashion, and two methods of fitting the parameters to which the trajectories are sensitive are explained. The Uzawa algorithm and the gradient method play an integral role in the technique.
