Zusammenfassung:The evolution of density gradients with time in salt-containing solar ponds from initial stepwise (discontinuous) state to asymptotic uniform state is mathematically investigated. Various numbers of initial gradiated salt solution layers are considered. The time for the top surface of the pond to reach one-half the concentration at mid-level increases with decreasing number of initial layers and with increasing pond depth.
