Ricardo Teles: His Life and Contributions to Periodontology

Ironically, he passed away right when this study came to an end and the biostatistics analyses had only been initiated. Besides being a fantastic scientist, Ricardo was a phenomenal clinician, a respected professor, and a natural born leader. [...]he was posthumously nominated to the American Academy of Periodontology Outstanding Educator Award by 14 of the periodontology residents he taught during his 3 years at UNC. Perhaps because we had the same role models, Sig Socransky and Anne Haffajee, and because we had the opportunity to evaluate and interpret the correlation of clinical, microbiological, and immunologic data sets from large randomized controlled trials. [...]the 3 of us repeated this ritual in his honor at the 2018 Fort Lauderdale AADR and the London IADR.
