Calculation of the temperature of river waters

The authors describe a method for calculating the water temperature pattern, at hourly intervals for several months, in the rivers Chaudiere and Du Nord, Quebec, which involves the use of the thermal budget method using routine meteorological and hydrological observations from nearby stations. The results are tabulated, and comparison with hourly observations shows the method to be satisfactory for studying the effects of a change in the river, or for predicting water temperatures for different meteorological and hydrological conditions.
