Energy trends include continued increases in oil consumption, extended oil resources, stable oil prices in the absence of political instability, and price limits as a result of competition from other energy sources. Environmental trends include greater public sensitivity to environmental issues, water shortages, ongoing waste management challenges, sublimation of environmental concerns to industrial development, biodiversity loss, and aggravation from continuing urbanization.
