Zusammenfassung:	The energy spectrum of diffuse cosmic X-rays over the energy range from 20 to 125 keV was measured during four balloon flights from Hyderabad, India. The results correspond to the vicinity of the geomagnetic equator where the cosmic-ray produced background is minimum. The present study includes important corrections due to multiple Compton scattering of photons in the overlying atmosphere. Comparison is made with other available data, and the implications of the results are discussed.
