Zusammenfassung:In surveys, editorials, books, and demonstrations, baby boomers express their fear and conviction that Social Security will not be around when they retire. They believe it will be significantly cut back or nonexistent. Rep. Dan Rostenkowski has introduced a bill addressing these concerns with facts and conclusions to replace exaggeration. This bill assures: 1. future beneficiaries that Social Security will be there for them, 2. young workers that payroll taxes do not have to rise to extreme levels in order to fund the basic retirement program, and 3. today's beneficiaries that Congress will not be forced to make severe cuts in their Social Security benefits.
