Zusammenfassung:A Chinese speech synthetic system based on monosyllable concatenation was presented. The system has a small amount of speech database consisting of 408 monosyllables with tone 1 having size 3.7 MB. A method for predicting the duration of a syllable that gave an accuracy of about 18% of the relative length error and a method for generating the F sub(0)-contour of a sentence based on isolated uttered tone patterns was proposed. The experimental results showed that the naturalness of the synthesized speech was good.
