Marine Weather Review: Tropical Atlantic and Tropical East Pacific areas September through December 1999

The last four months of 1999 were busy for the Tropical Prediction Center (TPC). Above normal hurricane activity occured in the tropical Atlantic, with below-normal activity in the eastern Pacific. As the hurricane season closed, winter weather systems produced seveal gale events in the Atlantic and Gulf of Tehuantepec in the Pacific. This article presents a review of the significant weather of the period, in particular, wind events, hurricanes, tropical storms and tropical depressions.
