Zusammenfassung: | The steady-state ceramic wear-rates was characterized to 20 million cycles test duration for the all-alumina total hip replacement (THR) as a follow-up to an earlier simulator study. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies at 20 Mc showed that the original machine tracks were polished off and craters representing regions of grain-pullout dominated the major wear zone. It was found that a duration of 5-6 Mc was not adequate to define steady-state wear-rates of Al sub(2)O sub(3). |
