Zusammenfassung: | The detection of small renal masses has increased significantly after the introduction of ultrasound (US) and computed tomography (CT). Two major factors have contributed to the increased detection of small renal tumors; 1) the improved visualization of the kidneys by means of modern imaging techniques; and 2) the higher number of kidneys visualized during US of the upper abdomen. In US, clinical findings include small renal tumors than can be ipoechoic, isoechoic or hyperechoic. US has good sensitivity, roughly 80%, in the detection of small renal tumors. |
