Zusammenfassung: | The extended aeration-activated sludge system plant at Mutah University, Jordan, receives diverse waste inputs daily. Sludge and wastewater treatment samples from the facility were assayed to characterize chemical constituents in the waste. Toxic chemicals and some considered carcinogenic are discharged to the treatment system from chemical and biological laboratories, a dry cleaning laundry, and a medical center, along with household wastes. These chemicals should be recycled to prevent their entry into the municipal wastewater treatment plant. |
