Zusammenfassung:A lossless tube model from acoustic theory was used in the interpretation of the acoustical transmission of cough sounds through the respiratory tract. A linear prediction routine was used to find the transfer function of the respiratory tract. Using this transfer function, the acoustic tube areas were then found. This model could be useful in determining whether the reconstruction of respiratory tract areas could be used to distinguish between healthy people and those with chronic pulmonary disease.
