Zusammenfassung:Laks offers insight on the article "The Molecular Intersection Between Senescence and Major Depression in the Elderly." The senescence-associated secretory phenotype, together with altered metabolomics, telomere length, and microRNA, provides an elegant model of the enhanced aging process in LLD that predisposes and leads to poor outcomes in this population. Dysregulated proteostasis-related pathways are a common link between major depression and Alzheimer disease in persons with comor-bid mild cognitive impairment, strongly suggesting that a common underlying pathophysiologic process contributes to the higher than expected association between these conditions.
