Zusammenfassung:•We explored diabetes prescriptions in people with T2D & renal impairment (RI).•We utilised MedicineInsight, a new Australian general practice dataset.•48.3% of people with T2D & RI had at ≥1 prescription not consistent with guidelines.•The majority of these prescriptions were for people with eGFR 30–59ml/min/1.73m2•Metformin had the highest number of prescriptions not consistent with guidelines. To determine whether the prescribing of non-insulin anti-hyperglycaemic medications in Australian general practice is consistent with current guidelines for treatment of type 2 diabetes (T2D) in people with renal impairment.
