Analysis of clinical and pathological findings in inflammatory fibroid polyps of the gastrointestinal system: A series of 69 cases

•This is one of the largest series reporting the clinical and histopathological characteristics of gastrointestinal tract IFPs•The characteristic histopathologic features of IFPs are onion skinning appearance and eosinophil infiltration•The presence of short fascicular pattern and multinucleated giant cells should also raise suspicion for a diagnosis of IFP•Immunohistochemically CD34 positivity and CD117 negativity are the most helpful for differential diagnosis
