Zusammenfassung: | International concrete codes are providing concrete durability to increase the service-life of reinforced concrete structures. Some examples are Australian Concrete Code, the ACI 318M, Eurocode and BS 8110, etc. The variedness of both climate and environmental conditions in these regions has greatly influenced the format of these codes. With respect to Africa, the authors recognized a similar need for such provisions in the African Concrete Code (ACC). The major climates and exposures of Africa are studied and based on them, various recommendations in concrete design and construction are detailed. The paper presents a comprehensive draft for durability provisions in an African concrete code which is non-existent till now. |
