Maternal Alcohol Use During Lactation and Child Development

Jansson comments on the article by Gibson and Porter on the topic about the longitudinal developmental effects of maternal substance use via breast milk. The authors found the association of maternal alcohol consumption during lactation and the later negative effects on child development like reduced abstract reasoning. It also present an important step in the understanding about the complex neurobiological and developmental vulnerability of the substance-exposed child.
