Zusammenfassung:The paper presents the results of a syntaxonomic analysis of the natural and semi-natural vegetation in the Middle Danube plain. It includes the main types of aquatic, steppe, forest and halophytic communities. Some syntaxa identified in the paper are well-known and widespread in the Central and Eastern Europe - aquatic and halophytic communities. Other communities such as the forests and the different kinds of steppes have a high specificity and they were described as new syntaxa on the association or subaasociation level. 13 classes, 16 orders, 20 alliances, 41 associations, 2 nomen provisore, 4 subassociations and 2 communities were described in the Middle Danube plain as a result of this research.
