Zusammenfassung: | Noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) transcribed from active enhancers are known as enhancer RNAs (eRNAs). eRNAs have generally been shown to contribute to transcriptional activation of target genes in cis. In this issue, Tsai et al. (2018) demonstrate that an eRNA expressed from a distal enhancer of Myogenic differentiation1 (MyoD) (DRReRNA) does not regulate its neighboring MyoD; instead, it promotes myogenic differentiation by activating Myogenin, which is located on a different chromosome.
