Zusammenfassung:The immunomodulatory effect in cat fish, Clarias batrachus due to pretreatment with India herb Andrographis paniculata infected with Aeromonas hydrophila (10 6–10 10 cfu/ml) through intraperitoneal administration. Normal fishes (212.5±10 g) were pre-treated by short bath treated by holding them in the herbal extract solution (10 ml/5 l at 5 min) for 14 days prior to infection. When infected with A. hydrophila (10 6–10 10 cfu/ml) the disease manifested as a haemorrhagic spot that progressed to form epidermal lesions (ulcerative dermatitis), swollen abdomen, gills and protruding eyes. The fish divided into eight groups. The hematological parameters and antibody titre of the control, infected-untreated, infected-treated and infected-pretreated fishes were monitored on 3rd, 6th and 9th day, respectively.
