Zusammenfassung: | Various aspects related to the cost structure of a postcombustion carbon dioxide (CO sub(2)) capture system using CaO are studied. The complete system includes three key cost components: a full combustion power plant, a second power plant working as an oxy-fired fluidized bed calciner, and a fluidized bed carbonator interconnected with the calciner and capturing CO sub(2) from the combustion power plant. It is shown that there is clear scope for a breakthrough in capture cost to around 15 $/t of CO sub(2) avoided with the system. The results suggest that the inclusion of a large fluidized-bed carbonator in the system boundary of the oxy-fired system would increase the capital cost and the COE from the system. |
