Zusammenfassung: | [...]we recently conducted a study in patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) (manuscript accepted for publication) and similarly found a low risk of stroke. In any event, the results of their and the other cited studies suggest that anticoagulation for AF in patients with cancer should be carefully indicated and managed. Because of the increase in bleeding risk observed in patients with cancer,6 the net clinical benefit of anticoagulation is likely narrower to begin with. [...]the growing evidence in patients with cancer and AF seems to show a strong need for prospective registries, if not randomized trials, including all relevant factors (including those that increase the risk of venous thromboembolic disease and bleeding as well as the type of anticoagulant drug on top of the usual cardiovascular variables) to determine who may benefit from anticoagulation.Disclosures The authors report no conflict of interest. |
